Petfolio scat mats, bird spikes and scratch guards
Cats on the counter, a dog on the couch, pigeons on the balcony rail, claws in the sofa arm. Petfolio makes the soft no for each of them: plastic spikes that are unpleasant to stand on, clear tape that paws don't like, and nothing that hurts.

Four steps
How a scat mat teaches
Lay it
Put the mat where the pet goes and shouldn't: counter, bed, flower bed, couch back.
They step once
Blunt plastic points feel odd under paws. No pain, just a reason to step back.
They choose elsewhere
Most pets avoid the spot within days. Give them a better place nearby — a cat tree, a dog bed.
Move it on
Shift the mats to the next trouble spot. They link, cut and roll up for storage.
Kind by design
Made not to hurt
Every Petfolio deterrent works by discomfort, not harm. Spikes are flexible polypropylene with rounded tips; tape is a sticky surface paws dislike. Pets keep their trust in you and lose interest in the counter.

Kind to paws, wings and furniture
Every Petfolio deterrent says no without hurting — so the lesson sticks and the friendship stays.

Garden and balcony
Outside, too
The same mats work on lawns and flower beds — staples hold them in the soil — and bird spikes keep ledges, gutters and railings clear of pigeons, swallows and squirrels.

Great solution!
This is great! I have a table height media cabinet in front of my wall-mounted TV. Recently my cat would climb up and touch, claw at, the screen. I tried putting aluminum foil on the table, then I tried wetting the foil, but I usually had to resort to shutting him in a bedroom. Today I put this product on the table and I can finally enjoy watching TV with Banjo on my lap. He figured it out immediately, so this is not cruel; just effective.
Depends on the Cat
These mats work pretty well for my kittens. The male stays away however the female has managed to walk in between the mats on a couple of occasions. The adhesive dots that come with them aren’t even worth using. I bought some double sided mounting tape to stick them to my granite counters. I think the value is decent for the price, and worth trying if your kitties are a little too curious.
Good but depends on your pet's personality
These worked at preventing two of my cats from jumping on the counters but my third cat could have cared less about them. I still gave it 5 stars as they can't account for all cats and their determination. The quality was still there for the price where it was safe and effective but it would not hurt them, just provide enough discomfort to discourage them.
Cat mats keep off mats
These are awesome, the packaging is the most perfect and was impressed. The tabs are great to keep these in place
Working well
Works great for keeping cat off the counters. Its a little janky and looks horrifying when i have people over, but keeps my cat off and thats what matters! They can slip off the counter if your cat is eager/smart enough to still try, so make sure they are all connected or have something heavy on them. They arent sharp enough to hurt the cat (otherwise i wouldnt be rating 5 stars) just enough to keep em off. The plastic is very sturdy though and the spikes do not bend.

About Petfolio deterrents
Choosing a scat mat for cats
Pick the mat by the place. Large 16 × 13 inch panels cover counters, beds and lawn strips; the 12-pack spreads over about 17 square feet. Narrow 16 × 8 inch panels and the 13-foot roll fit sills, shelves and fence tops. Small 8 × 6 inch squares go inside flowerpots. Strips of 13.3 × 3.3 inches line edges — the front of a counter, the back of a sofa. All of them use 1-inch flexible spikes and link or cut to shape.
Do scat mats work on dogs?
Yes — the same mats keep dogs off couches and out of flower beds, and stop digging along fences. For a large dog, use the full-size panels and cover the whole surface rather than a strip, so there is no gap to stand in.
Bird spikes that look like thorns
Petfolio bird spikes use an uneven high-low pattern, like a thorny branch, so a bird can't find two flat points to land on. The grey 20-foot set comes with metal stakes for gutters and planters; the clear 35-foot set disappears on railings and roof edges.
Saving the sofa
Cats scratch where it feels good. Double-sided tape changes that feeling. Press the clear sheets on the arm or corner the cat uses, keep a scratching post right beside it, and after a couple of weeks the habit moves to the post. The tape suits most fabrics but not leather, microfiber or velvet.
Q&A
Questions owners ask
Is a scat mat cruel?
No. The spikes are blunt, flexible plastic that make a surface uncomfortable to stand on without breaking skin.
How long until my cat stays off the counter?
Most cats test a mat a few times over the first days, then avoid the spot. Keep the mats down for a couple of weeks before removing them.
Can I cut the mats?
Yes, with ordinary scissors — around a plant stem, along a counter edge, or into strips for a railing.
Will the tape damage my sofa?
It peels off most fabrics cleanly. Don't use it on leather, faux leather, microfiber or velvet.
Do the bird spikes hurt birds?
No. The tips are not sharp; they simply leave no flat place to land.
A soft no, never a hard lesson.
Petfolio makes the gentle kind of rule: something a cat would rather not stand on, a ledge a pigeon can't settle on, a sofa corner that feels wrong to claws. Pets keep their trust in you; the counter stays clear.
